- Originality: How original is this - never seen before?
- Building Techniques: How much skill do you think the creator of this MOC has, in terms of building technique?
- Details: Express how much you like the details of the build.
Your feedback is only shown to the creator as well as yourself. It is not available for other users to see. The creator won't see your user name.
The synthesizer that defined the sound of a generation – and changed the way we think about music.
Born of Bob Moog's experimental modular systems of the 1960s that were used by pioneers like Wendy Carlos, the Minimoog proposed an even more radical idea: what if you didn't have to be an electronics expert to play a synthesizer?
The first portable, compact instrument to combine the features of a modular synthesizer with the ease of use of a keyboard, the Minimoog was unlike anything that had come before it – and set the standard for everything that came after. Its unmistakable analog sound became a staple of countless musicians, from Herbie Hancock to Stevie Wonder to Kraftwerk, and its approachable, all-in-one design served as the template for what we think of as synthesizers today.
In LEGO form, the Minimoog becomes the perfect addition to your desk, your studio, or anywhere you want a little piece of brick-built music history. A fortuitous harmony of proportion and rhythm between the original hardware and LEGO bricks has allowed every knob and switch from the original front panel to be faithfully reproduced to scale with the 44-key keyboard, making this model surprisingly accurate to the instrument it commemorates. In addition, a hinge and kickstand allow the panel to be set at an angle or folded flat, just like the original.
