It's a multi-tone red Roman vessel, dated in the period of Roman Republic (509 BC through 27 BC).
I built it because I am passionate about Roman history and my son enjoys role playing with it and reading stories about the Roman Republic and it's adventures on the sea.
I believe it's lovely in its simplicity. Given the easiness of construction and presence of only the key details (such soldier, arm, sail) children could assemble it on their own and quite quickly. This LEGO set would allow them to approach history in a playful way.
