Here I present to you (penultimately), 2 titanic entities in the world of toys coming together: LEGO and the Classic Toy/Model Train Set! On this occasion, I have meticulously rebuilt from scratch, revised, and combined several of my previous LEGO Ideas submissions. Completely overhauling them to accommodate a much more comprehensive and interactive play style for young and old LEGO Fans and Railway Enthusiasts alike!
Much like my previous "deluxe" submission, this train set is a refinement/culmination of all of my passenger/freight variants put together, including not one, but two locomotives! The 2 engines are based on iconic and quintessentially British designs, from the Great Western Railway . Both trains are independently functional, battery powered and autonomously controlled with LEGO's standard wireless train controllers.
The primary reason I opted for 2 trains instead of one, is to allow for a more comprehensive/integrated play pattern. In this case, simulating a connection between 2 different trains at the included station, or at the coal depot/dump. Much larger than my all of my previous attempts (owing to a recent increase in the 'piece limit' for Lego Ideas submissions), the station is designed to not only fit the passing loop of track, but also allow for the longer pieces of rolling stock to not foul on the platform. The aforementioned rolling stock items include 2 passenger coaches and 7 goods wagons, all of which are styled to suit the trains pulling them. However, you can obviously mix and match them how you like.
Below is a run-down of the components that comprise this gargantuan set!
