The original Pilot for Blue’s Clues was called “Blue Prints” which was filmed in 1995 and was created for young test audience to be a game show for the younger viewers and was received well by the test audience. Before Steve had his green striped sweater, he originally had a red polo shirt and Blue herself was originally a male cat named Mr. Orange then to Mr. Blue but was scrapped due to Nickelodeon green lighting a show with a cat which is possibly referring to The Wubbulous World of Dr. Suess which released in 1996 a month after Blue’s Clues.

The two creators of Blue’s Clues are named Angela Santomero and Traci Paige Johnson. Johnson is actually the voice actress for Blue as during the time of development, they were in a budget and questioned the development crew if anyone can bark. Turning out that Johnson herself was able to do simple barks and was decided to be chosen in the end.
