The core idea of this set is the design of a chassis with a full sized Technic piston engine at the front at a small scale of models built with less than 700 elements.
It's about proving a point and setting a bar high for what can be done at a smaller scale, what functionality can be squeezed into a small Technic semi tractor and sports car set. Both models can be made with mostly the same stock of parts with very little overhead required to build the semi tractor, so they can be treated as A/B models.
The set also employs some intricate building techniques to achieve complete bodywork in a stud-less fashion without filling in blanks with system bricks.
