New hull design
To respond to some criticism about the use of hinges in the hull resulting in unsightly "holes", I've made a small change to the hull design, which now appears more smooth, as you can see in the attached picture:

Since the article asks it, I don't know how many bricks, but the boat is about 40 studs long. According to the hinges used on the hull, their aim is to give it the correct curvature, since there are no Lego pieces I've found suitable for the shape I intended to give it. I don't think a hinge should be considered a "hole" in the hull. Beside that, the hinges are located above the waterline and they circumscribe a square porthole obtained by means of a dark transparent brick. In any case I will mind the advice for future projects.
