Live from New York, it's Saturday Night!

Saturday Night Live is celebrating 50 seasons! SNL premiered, on October 11, 1975, as NBC's Saturday Night. Created by Lorne Michaels, SNL is a live variety show, hosted by a varying comedic cast performing sketches, often a parody of pop culture, political and current events, featuring a special guest star and musical act. Saturday Night Live is an American icon.

Saturday Night Live is filmed at Rockefeller Center, in New York city, of course. My LEGO Ideas set honors the instantly recognizable stage. With the stage lights made from glow in dark white pieces.

The original 1975 cast members Chevy Chase, Dan Aykroyd, John Belushi, Jane Curtain, Garrett Morris, Laraine Newman and Gilda Radner are portrayed in minifigure form.
A detachable staircase can be used to pose your minifigures as in the famous cast photo taken on opening night.

Why this set is special to me?
Aside from the 50th anniversary being a wonderful time to design and build this Saturday Night Live set. Yes, I am a child of the 70s. I have fond memories of staying up late, watching SNL with my brother. We sat on the floor, in front of the Zenith and laughed along with everyone else. At the time, not realizing we were laughing along with most of America.

This could be a wonderful set with an included soundtrack to listen to and laugh with, as you build.

My "Live from New York, it's Saturday Night!" Ideas set consists of 1835 solid, transparent and glow in dark white pieces. Including, 7 minifigures, as the original cast members. The title and incredibly famous line, "Live from New York, it's Saturday Night!" is printed on the tile pieces, in front of the stage.
