Bothy (Wilderness Hut)

The setting

One sunny afternoon a couple are hiking together in the countryside and find a traditional bothy (wilderness hut) surrounded by nature with a picturesque stream running through. They decide to take a short break and use the facilities where they are greeted by a number of cute, curious and mischievous animals.

The bothy's interior includes a bed, cooking facilities and a storage shelf for personal belongings whilst outside there is a compostable wc.

Why I built this model

Spending time in nature is becoming more important for people and connecting with nature is enjoyable for everyone. This project offers a unique spin on the great outdoors and embracing nature.

What is a bothy (wilderness hut)

A bothy is a free to use temporary accommodation space designed with the sole purpose of serving the community. Bothy's are mainly found in the wilderness and can be found in several countries around the world as a universal point of refuge. Each bothy can be unique and differ from the last especially country to country.

Project details

I created this model and the images used in this project using the STUDIO program.

The model has a tiled black base and is designed to be both a display model and a play set. The project has a built environment surrounding the model and includes a tiled stream, functional wooden entrance gate and several animals. This model also includes two buildings with usable features including the roof to the bothy which is designed to be removable as well as functional front doors to both the bothy and compostable wc.

The model containers roughly 750 pieces, two mini figures and several animals.

Support

I feel like people are spending more time enjoying and exploring nature and because of this I feel like my bothy build would appeal to a wide range of Lego fans and nature enthusiasts as well as being a fun and enjoyable build.
