Introduction
The R/V Laura Bassi is the first Italian icebreaker research vessel capable of operating in the polar seas. It was bought in 2019 by National Institute of Oceanography and Applied Geophysics - OGS and since then it has been available to the international scientific community for the study of the Arctic and Antarctica.
I was lucky enough to work aboard this ship, so I decided to make a copy of it, in LEGO bricks!

Model Specifications
The vessel is over 56 cm (22") long, 12 cm (5") wide and 27 cm (11") high, but with the display base it reaches over 76 cm (30") length and 25 cm (10") wide.
It is made of approximately 1250 pieces, which becomes 1520 if considering also the display base.
You can easily remove the ship from the base, to place it in a city diorama.

Some Details
- 3 rotating cranes
- helicopter landing pad
- 2 lifeboats
- tracked vehicles
...and many penguins, as you can usually find in Antarctica!

Creating this model has been an exciting challenge, especially with regard to the shape of the hull and the main crane. I hope you will like it too and that you will support this project!

Let me know what you think in the comments, any advice will be useful to improve the model!
