Once Upon A Brick becomes 'Frozen'

Coming to you from the far-away kingdom of Arendelle, the Once Upon A Brick family continues to grow with new members from the film 'Frozen'.

  • Princess Anna is based on the classic 2x4 LEGO Brick, is made up of 130 LEGO bricks and stands 12cm tall. She features her black, gold and blue dress, pointy winter boots and braided her, complete with white streak.
  • Queen Elsa is based upon a 2 x 4 LEGO Brick, contains 161 bricks and stand 13cm tall. She comes with her trademark ice dress and cape, plus snowy hair and braid.
  • Olaf is also based upon a 1 x 3 LEGO Brick, contains 45 bricks and stands 10cm tall.

Time to go 'Under The Sea' with new characters

New members of the Once Upon A Brick family have arrived!

From the Undersea Kingdom, we are joined by Princess Ariel, Sebastian, Flounder and Ursula, the Sea Witch herself!

Once again, we have a departure from my traditional 2x4 LEGO Bricks in a couple of instances, due to the character's sizes: -

  • Ariel comes as a classic 2x4 LEGO Brick, made up of 160 parts and standing 12cm tall. She has her trademark flowing red hair and mermaid tail.
  • Sebastian is based upon a 1x1 LEGO Brick, contains 50 bricks and stand 3.5cm tall. Not much room to work with on a 1x1, but I managed to get his six legs and claws on there.
  • Flounder is also based upon a 1x1 LEGO Brick, contains 50 bricks and stands 11cm tall with his stand (about 3cm without). Flounder features his instantly recognisable yellow and blue colour scheme.
  • Ulsula is based upon a 2x4 LEGO Brick, is made up of 270 parts and stands 13cm tall. With her striking white hair and black tentacles, Ursula stands ready to strike up a new deal with any "poor unfortunate souls" that cross her path!

Big things are coming!

I have been quiet of late because I have been reformatting the existing figures to more accurately reflect the LEGO Bricks that they are based upon.
As an example, here is the old Mickey (left) and the new Mickey (right), plus the 2x4 brick in the middle that he is based upon, for scale.

This means each figure is now going to get a little bigger and give me slightly more room with which to add those all important personal touches that make each character unique.

"The Fab Four" finally becomes "The Fab Five"

Arriving fashionably late to the party, Minnie Mouse is here to finally take her place at Mickey's side.

In truth, she should have been alongside Mickey, Pluto, Donald and Goofy from the very start, but I was having some trouble with her polka dot dress. I was applying white circles all the way around and it looked a mess. So I put her to one side and carried on with the others. As is usually the way, when you come back and look at something with a fresh perspective, the answer comes very easily; keep the white dots to the front ONLY. I'm very happy with how she turned out!

Also, this seemed like a good time to introduce Minnie to the rest of the Once Upon A Brick Family.

The Once Upon A Brick family so far

We have had some recent additions to the family and we are now ten characters strong!

There are lots of new characters in the works, so please keep checking back here and I will add new updates as the characters arrive!

A monsterous addition to Once Upon A Brick

Prepare to laugh or scream, depending on which one comes through your closet door! Coming to see us, after a long shift on the Laugh / Scare floor, is Mike Wazowski and James P. "Sulley" Sullivan.

A departure from the traditional 2x4 LEGO Bricks that I have been creating so far, due to the characters unusual sizes (both short and tall): -

  • Sulley comes to us as a 2x6 LEGO Brick because he is so tall. Sporting his trademark light blue fur with purple patches and topped off with his distinctive horns, he is both adorable and terrifying, depending on what the job dictates.
  • Mike is vertically challenged and so is based upon a 2x2 LEGO Brick. With oversized feet and tiny horns, he may not be tall, but he is hard to miss!

New friends from the 100 Acre Wood

I am thrilled to be able to introduce some new Once Upon A Brick characters, coming directly to you, from the 100 Acre Wood.

Winnie the Pooh, Piglet, Tigger and Eeyore have arrived and expand the number of Once Upon A Brick characters to eight. Like the characters that came before them, they see the essence of each character being merged with a LEGO brick to produce something unique:

  • Winnie the Pooh is sat on the ground, preparing to snack on his bowl of honey.
  • Piglet is known for his diminutive size.
  • Tigger is filled with joy and is bouncing on his tail.
  • Eeyore is his usual downcast self.

To help provide a sense of how big these characters are, the above picture includes the LEGO Bricks that each character is based upon. Since Piglet is such a small character, I went with a 1x2 brick, rather than the normal 2x4 brick that the others are based upon.

Size Comparison

Whenever someone sees these creations in person (after seeing the pictures first), it usually results in a comment along the lines of "They're much bigger than I thought!".
So to give everyone an idea of their actual size, here is a photo of them next to the 2x4 LEGO Bricks that they are based upon.

The dimensions of the actual 'brick body' for each character is 6 studs wide and 8 bricks high.
