Welcome to The Downtown Market!

What is it?

Inspired by the most famous variety markets scattered around the world, I present to you The Downtown Market: a place full of good things together with a very comfortable and warm location, things we all like to see in a market.

  • Building details: This market has numerous details to talk about. Outside of the building we have a cobblestone style sidewalk, some nice restaurant umbrellas and seats and beautiful classic lamp posts. About the exterior architecture of the building, the flashiest part is the main entrance filled with transparent pieces representing glass, together with a beautiful curved area in the top; we also have other nice parts in the architecture such as the decorative tiles of the restaurant, in the first floor. The interior has even more to tell. In the ground floor’s entrance, we have a cool spiral staircase leading our minifigures to the restaurant. After that, we see 4 beautiful shops where we can find many delicious things. The shops are (1) a fruit grocer, (2) a butcher, (3) a health food shop and (4) a candy shop. On the first floor, we have a very attractive French restaurant but, as its names suggests (“Ici a tout”, in French, means “here has everything”) we can find any other common foods of our routine. Finally, there is a bathroom in the side of the kitchen and a cozy balcony in front of the restaurant.
  • Pieces details: This market contains loads of printed pieces, and various of them were produced by me, such as all the billboards of the shops.
  • Minifigures details: This model contains 11 minifigures. On the ground floor: 2 clients, and 4 employees, each one for the four shops on the ground floor. On the first floor, we have 3 clients of the restaurant, 1 chef of the restaurant and the little girl looking at the balcony.
  • Overall details: The building is made of 2443 LEGO bricks. It is modular, with the first floor and the roof being detachable for even further visualization of the details.

Why did I build it?

I built it because markets are places that we can find our favorite foods and other nice things that would be nice and beautiful if combined with LEGO bricks.

Why do I think this would be a great LEGO set?

Because of some reasons such as the usage of decorative pieces that bring prominence to the building and the variety of special pieces such as the printed and food ones.
