THE IDEA
Crikey! Steve Irwin was a famous Australian zookeeper, conservationist, wildlife educator and environmentalist. He was loved worldwide for his excitement to explore, help and showcase wildlife, despite the dangers. He got the nickname "The Crocodile Hunter" due to his popular documentary series and his passion for these incredible animals. Although he tragically died in 2006, his work still touches the hearts of many wildlife lovers.
It's the second time I submit a project about Steve. Once again, the Crocodile Hunter is accompanied by a big majestic crocodile! This time, I also added a koala. The inclusion of a dangerous and not so popular animal along with a cute and popular one, points out Steve's universal love for any kind of creature. Big or small, , deadly or harmless, he found them all fascinating and worthy of his help. One of my favorite things about him, highlighted in this model.
THE MODEL
A) Steve Irwin buildable figure with posable limbs and head, along with 3 different facial expressions!
B) A Saltwater Crocodile, with posable limbs, tail, body, upper and lower jaw. I tried to make it as accurate and realistic as I could (crocodiles are my favorite animals after all)
C) A Koala with posable limbs, that is able to hang on a tree or Steve's back.
E) A double sided display base, one side for a land scene, the other for an underwater scene.
F) Decorative pieces like a young Australian Eucalyptus tree and a fish. There is room for more animals to add too!
FUN FACTS
💡The Eucalyptus tree on the land side of the base can be disassembled, and the pieces to be used to build seaweed and supports for the croc on the underwater side! Or vise versa! You can also have the fish swimming on the underwater side, or be a nice treat for the croc on the land side. Nothing is wasted in this model!
💡The proportions of the croc and koala compared to Steve's figure are accurate to their real life proportions!
💡The crocodile is not green because there are no purely green crocs in real life! The colors and patterns of my model were made to match the most common ones in real saltwater crocs.
SO MANY WAYS TO DISPLAY
I had a lot of fun with all the different scenes I could create. Steve, the koala and the croc can be combined to depict your favorite Crocodile Hunter moments, or to create your own fun ideas! Flip the base to change the scenary from land to underwater and vise versa. It's so easy!
