THE IDEA
This is our build based on “Kiki’s Delivery Service”, a great animated movie made by Studio Ghibli released on July 29, 1989. The set includes five characters: Kiki, Jiji, Tombo, Fukuo, Ozono and Ursula. The building of the set is Gütiokipänjä bakery, Inside are depicted the four main rooms from the film: The shop, the bakery, the living room/kitchen and Kiki’s room. This build contains 2980 pieces and includes various references to the movie, can you spot them all?
WHY WE BUILT IT
We both like Studio Ghibli movies, and Kiki's Delivery Service which is suitable and enjoyable by all ages. Is one of the most memorable ones. So we decided to recreate the main building (Gütiokipänjä bakery) as accurately as we could, which was quite the challenge, but we managed to do it. We also chose this movie because this year is its 35th anniversary.
WHY IT WOULD MAKE FOR A GREAT SET
We think this set should be an official product because it could be a great first collaboration between Studio Ghibli and The LEGO Group. With all the details that we put (the minifigures, side builds like the stand for Kiki, building techniques). This set would not only appeal to Ghibli fans, but also modular fans who will notice the ways that set opens the access to the interior.
