Farewell for now!

Hey all! Thanks so much for all the love! K.I.T.T. almost made it to the half way point, a testament to the enduring legacy of the Knight Rider series. With two weeks to go, I just wanted to let you know that I appreciate all the support and feedback. I will definitely revisit this MOC again in the future, so stay tuned for version 2!

2500 SUPPORTS!

Thanks so much for getting K.I.T.T. to the quarter mark!

My first version of K.I.T.T. incorporated a lot of Technic and flimsy building techniques. I have now revised the design to better match the LEGO Expert and Creator series. I began by recreating the model digitally in BrickLink Studio. I then redesigned each section, focusing on improving the overall proportions while maintaining the original scale. Then I rebuilt K.I.T.T. with actual LEGO which allowed me to tweak the design even further, adding more structural support and fixing a few issues which looked good digitally but did not translate correctly to the real world.

The final result is hopefully much more faithful to the real K.I.T.T., particularly the interior which has been reimagined to add lots of new details. The model is more durable and playable, the electronics are well-integrated into the design, and some new features were added, for example: a rear windscreen, opening T-top roof, adjustable side view mirrors, and a system that securely locks the hood and headlights into place.

I hope that my efforts inspire more interest in this model so we can get to 5000 supports!

2000 supports!

Thank you so much for supporting K.I.T.T. on LEGO Ideas! I can't believe he is 1/5th of the way to potentially becoming a real set! Here's an update on what's been going on behind the scenes...

I am working on some cosmetic improvements to the car's exterior to reduce blockiness and help maintain its sleek, streamlined shape. I'm also tinkering with the steering mechanism to make it smoother, as well as figuring out a good solution for powering the rear wheels.

Although some have criticized the amount of electronics in the model, I think the power functions are really necessary here. The original K.I.T.T. was known for its lights, sounds, and automated movement so my goal is to replicate these features in LEGO as closely as I can!

Thanks again and please share this project with more Knight Rider fans!

10% milestone!

Thank you for 1000 supports! Truly humbled by all the love that my creation has received from the Ideas community. I am working on a video to help promote K.I.T.T. and highlight its many features (including some new ones). So if you have a question, comment, or request, please let me know and I will do my best to respond!

In the meantime, here is the updated model with a message from K.I.T.T. Sharp eyed viewers may spot a few changes ; ) Please share this project with other Knight Rider fans and let's make it Knight Industries Two Thousand!
