Open Up the Door

Music is a universal language that expresses emotions and shapes memories. It accompanies us in all situations and has the power to inspire, comfort and unite people.

An artist who inspires me a lot and has accompanied me with her music for some time is Billie Eilish. On the occasion of the release of their new album

“HIT ME HARD AND SOFT” I decided to develop a suitable Lego idea project.

My design shows a door like on the album cover. When you open the door you are greeted by three scenes from three different music videos of hers from this album. All three scenes also have different functions. These can be triggered on the back of the model.

Below we see the music video for their hit song “LUNCH”. It shows Billie with a cherry and her hat in a white room where she can move thanks to a rotating surface. I designed the walls on the left and right in three different colors, as you can see in the video.

In the middle of it all is the third song on the album, “CHIHIRO”. This scene appears later in the video and shows Billie running from a man in a field at sunset. I made sure that the figures could move back and forth.

The scene above is from the music video for their biggest hit so far on this album, “BIRDS OF A FEATHER”. In this picture, Billie floats up the wall and then falls.

On the sides of the door I took up the theme of water and depicted waves to match the album cover. These are various objects that are meant to symbolize the songs on your album. If you look carefully and think, you will definitely figure out which article goes with which title.

It's certainly easy to guess how the name of this project came about. The door is a central object that represents the album just as strongly. The song “Chihiro” contains the lyrics “Open up the door,…”, which is where the name came from.
