The Wright Flyer: The Birth of Flight

On December 7th, 1903, Orville and Wilbur Wright changed the world forever. For 12 short seconds, they successfully flew the very first powered, heavier than air aircraft. These 12 short seconds threw the world into a new age, the age of flight. This aircraft, now known as the Wright Flyer, is the plane that Orville Wright piloted to complete this feat.

This model is built in roughly 1:35 scale, meaning it is compatible with minifigures. My design also includes a stand for the flyer to sit on and 2 minifigures, Orville and Wilbur Wright. Orville can lay down in the plane and pilot it, just like the real Orville did, and Wilbur comes with a plate so he can run alongside the plane. The plane is as accurate and detailed as building at this scale allowed, including a detailed build of the propellers and engine.
The model is 12 inches long and 2 3/4 inches tall.

I think this would make a wonderful set because it would be the perfect model to display with the official Lego Saturn V, Space Shuttle, and other space and aviation related sets. Having the Saturn V displayed next to the Wright Flyer would be perfect because it would show how quickly aviation technology was able to develop from the flight of the first plane to the first humans walking on the moon.
