The Famous Racing Sausages

My family and I lived in Milwaukee for a few years when the kids were young. We attended Bucks, Brewers, and Admirals games. Everyone loves the Sausage Race during the Brewers' games. Adults and kids alike loved them.

It started years ago as an animation on the giant centerfield scoreboard with three of the sausages: Bratwurst, Polish, and Italian. It became a real-life race on the field with volunteers wearing the costumes. Soon Hot Dog was added and later Chorizo joined the group. Although not the mascots for the team, they are very much part of the game experience.

You can read more about them on the Milwaukee Brewers' website - The Famous Racing Sausages.

I've created two versions of the sausages to show there are multiple ways they could be rendered in bricks. The larger, rounder 9"-tall versions were my first attempt at creating them. I've built two (Bratwurts, Italian Sausage) in the real world and they are displayed in my home office. Unfortunately the others can't be built as the bricks don't exist in the needed colors. The smaller version I created recently and modeled them after the Brick Headz theme as people may find these more popular. The great thing about this version is that they can all be built today as the bricks exist in all the needed colors.

Why I Built It

We moved to the Philadelphia area and the city has two amazing team mascots. I stumbled across a model in bricks of Gritty. I built it and it sits proudly on a shelf in my office. I then designed a model of the Phillie Phanatic. I've been looking for another project and thinking of other mascots and thought back to my time in Milwaukee. Eureka!

So here they are in all their glory.
Bratwurst!
Polish Sausage!
Italian Sausage!
Hot Dog!
Chorizo!

This was a fun build! I took some liberties on the colors for some of the bricks. I'm assuming that if this actually becomes a set then color is a small hurdle. I also created specials bricks for the Hot Dog and Chorizo jerseys. I didn't put numbers on them as I thought that could be handled with stickers.

Why They Would Make a Great Set

There have been sports-related sets in the past. More recently there have been sets of famous sports stadiums. Though these have been large, detailed, and more expensive seemingly geared to a more mature audience.

I think these models would appeal to everyone, especially kids. Everyone loves a good mascot. Kids could play with them while watching the game. They could reenact the race. Maybe even bring them to the game. So many possibilities. They could be sold as individual sets (Collect Them All!) or altogether in one set?

So come on all you baseball fans and sausage fans, let's make this set a reality and get this to 10K votes!
