Steam Train Line, 1899

I wanted to add a side view of the train from the set, to show the train design by itself - the L R T S line branding is also more visible from this angle.

I imagined this train running on the same network as Emerald Night, with this being the smaller, blue ‘little brother’ to Emerald Night, pulling both coaches and trucks (as in real life the 812 was a ‘mixed traffic’ engine). This is also the photo I used to make the negative on the fact sheet in the set.

Fun fact: for fans of Thomas the Tank engine and the Railway Series, Donald and Douglas (“The Twin Engines”) were based on the Caledonian Railways 812.
