Celebrating 80 Years of the Mallard's Record
Eighty years ago, on July 3rd of 1938, the Pacific-type steam locomotive, the Mallard, made a world speed record for traction of 126 miles per hour. However, according to The Encyclodpedia of Trains and Locomotives, "The suggestion that Mallard actually touched 202.7kph (126mph) has recently been discounted, but computer-aided reciews of the dynamometer car records leave no doubt that the A4 attained the fastest verified speed of any steam locomotive."
This makes sence. Afterall, streamlined steam locomotives such as the Mallard go faster because of their slick design.
The Mallard LEGO Ideas project has been planned for two years. That's right! Ever since I posted the Jumbo Mallard LEGO MOC on the LEGO Digital Designer Gallery, I have been waiting for this day to come to celebrate the famous steamer.
Have a good day, everyone! By cheesy. 7/3/2018
