Update II: Secret Elevator

It is with mixed emotions that I bring you the latest update for my Arrow: The Cave LEGO Ideas set.

Firstly, a huge thank you to all who have supported all of my projects so far.  I'm incredibly proud and delighted to have reached 1,000 supporters on my first ever project, and I would not be continuing to publish my ideas if it weren't for you.

Unfortunately however, LEGO Ideas' latest rules and policies for uploading projects has been amended so that projects that use the IP of currently licensed themes - which includes DC Super Heroes - will no longer be able to be eligible for submission on the site.  It's terrible news for all designers who are inspired by such franchises, and while I understand that LEGO Ideas is meant to enforce new and fresh creations, and that LEGO already have dedicated teams working tirelessly on previously established themes, this was a wonderful platform for fans to share their wishes for future sets.  As a resolution, I desperately hope that LEGO will give us a new, official platform to share such creations with an audience and community such that LEGO Ideas holds.

This rule change puts the future of my planned sets, including the DC's Legends of Tomorrow: The WaveRider set, in jeopardy, however if I do finish the project I will still endeavor to upload it to LEGO Ideas, though if that fails, I will share it to my usual social media platforms to be viewed.

On to this latest update however, once again having made improvements to the Secret Elevator in my Arrow Cave.  Not only is this take a more realistic and show accurate approach to the model, having gained further views and perspectives of it as Season 5 of Arrow progresses, but it is also more structurally sound, while reducing its piece count from 473 bricks, to 420.

Hope you enjoy the changes, and please continue to support and share my projects!

Updated: Secret Elevator

To my surprise, the Season 5 Premiere of Arrow showed Oliver Queen walk through the Ground Floor of the Arrow Cave's Secret Elevator from a set of doors at the back and out through to the usual "entrance".  Though my elevator always included two sets of manually operated doors, I've now opened up the back section of the ground floor so that it is accessible from both sides, as is now show-accurate.

Despite re-watching many of the Season 4 episodes as research when creating the set, I hadn't been able to get a good look at the reverse side of the elevator, which opens up to a garage-type area, so I'm unsure as to whether this is a new change in the show's set of Season 5, or whether it has carried over from Season 4.  Either way, the update to my set not only adds to the set's playability, but it's now also much more aesthetically pleasing.

The small modification also reduces the total number of pieces in the set by 2, the new total coming to 1649.

The image I've included is of the reverse side of the elevator, where the update was made to the ground floor, with both sets of doors open to better demonstrate how the model functions.  I've also opened up the secret sliding panels above in Oliver's Mayoral Campaign Office on the first floor, which I had not previously shown - note they are not completely opened; they can open all the way so that they sit flush with the outer wall.  I will make sure to upload both images to my Instagram and Google Photos album.

I'd also like to give a quick thank you to everyone who voted on my Supergirl: Battle For National City set, which achieved 100 supporters and was granted an additional 365 days to continue gathering support.  Unfortunately, there has been some delay in my unveiling of my The Flash: S.T.A.R. Labs set, after I've put it through a significant amount of changes recently, but I promise it will be revealed very soon!  Thanks again for your support and patience!  :)

Should Curtis Holt Be Replaced?

With Season 5 of Arrow recently kicking off, as predicted it appears that Curtis Holt (AKA Mister Terrific) will have a substantially larger role this series, by officially joining Team Arrow and taking up the mantle of the T-Sphere wielding Super Hero.  Keeping that (and his potential costumed LEGO minifigure) in mind, I was thinking of swapping him out of my LEGO Arrow: The Cave Ideas set and replacing him with one of the figures pictured.

Do you think he should be swapped out, and if so, who should replace him?  Let me know what you think in the comments!! The options presented are The Huntress/Helena Bertinelli, Deathstroke/Slade Wilson, Ras Al Ghul, Nyssa Al Ghul, Damien Darhk and John Constantine.

Updated: Malcolm Merlyn / The Dark Archer

With the surprise recent software update to LDD, I've utilised some of the new piece additions and altered my minifigure's design for Malcolm Merlyn, AKA The Dark Archer!  He now uses the new Bruce Wayne hairpiece from The LEGO Batman: The Movie line of sets, and also uses the Collectible Minifigures Rogue hood and mask piece in black.  Please let me know what you think!!

Supergirl: Battle for National City

There's only 43 days left before my other project in the CW Supergirl: Battle for National City set expires!!  I currently need at least 19 more likes to be granted an extra 365 days under LEGO Ideas' new voting system, so please support and share it!  As always, your comments and feedback is much appreciated.  Thank you to everyone who has done so so far!
