In most Lego sets, there are hidden elements, secret doors, invisible drawers, etc. But I've never seen a Lego construction where the main subject is hidden! It is for this reason that I decided to build this secret residence, buried under the mountain.
This set has two sides: an exterior and an interior, which increases the play potential.
Outside, we see a wild mountain, rocky and dotted with plants. Some animals can also be found like an eagle overlooking the valley, a rat, a fish and two spiders. We can also see the tower, solitary, seemingly empty, it is simple, built in the same colors as the mountain and almost blends into the decor. A torrent has its source under the rocks and rushes down the slope to continue its course outside the model.
But as soon as we find the secret door and cross it, a whole new universe opens to us! The interior is a home, welcoming and warm, almost luxurious. In the house, there is:
- A dining room with five seats and a fish dish,
- A living room with a fire, a portrait of the master of the house, statuettes and collector's swords and bows,
- A bedroom with a large bed, a stool and a bedside table with a teapot and cups,
- An observation post above the bedroom
- A bookcase,
- And even a forge!
The house is lit by candlelight, which reinforces its warm side, and several decorations are hung throughout the house such as coats of arms, swords, a deer skull, gold statuettes, a carpet and bows with arrows.
The fire in the forge can be lit with a light-up Lego piece and a button.
Under the bookcase there is a storage cupboard where decorated cups and bottles are placed.
The roof of the tower is removable and so is the entire tower, so that the figurines and objects in the room and the forge can be easily manipulated.
There are seven figures in my idea, two Dwarves and five Elves. The first, naturally adapted to underground life, are very skilled with their hands and make excellent blacksmiths! They live here in harmony with the second ones, tall and elegant beings with long hair. Communicating with nature and peerless acrobats, they make warriors as discreet as they are formidable!
Why did I choose Elves and Dwarves as characters? It is true that I could have developed any universe with this very versatile construction, but visually, this mountain makes me think of a slightly imaginary, magical world! In addition, I find that Fantasy universes, in which magical creatures like Elves and Dwarves live, are not very often represented by LEGO. I chose here to make these two peoples live side by side, in the same house, which is opposed to universes like those of Lord of the Rings or Eragon.
This set is very pleasant to build, and its aesthetic makes it a model of choice to place on a shelf! He is also full of resources and his play potential is quite good! I think it will make a great LEGO set with its innovative, immersive and mysterious side!
