I built the model of this architecture of impressive dimensions that almost no one knows about. It is the bell tower of Mortegliano, a small town in northern Italy. It is the tallest bell tower in Italy and the tallest reinforced concrete bell tower in the world. Its geographical location is 45°56'36.8"N 13°10'16.7"E.
The building, from ground level, is 113.2 meters (371 feet) high.
The structure of the bell tower is quite complex and consists of an octagonal section, as a reference to the existing Cathedral of its relevance, which develops with two volumes in concrete masonry at the base and rises in six porticoed theories that gradually become higher to counteract the optical reduction due to the height. The summit ends with a practicable floor above the four clocks, with the structure of the "bell castle" and with the pyramidal spire in reinforced concrete at the top, also with an octagonal base.
The model is made up of approximately five thousand parts (4994 to be precise). All the external siding of the bell tower is built with SNOT technic. The base is structural and tied to the vertical section using Lego Techinc to prevent lateral oscillations.
The idea was born to give value to a record-breaking bell tower, unknown and often confused with another building located in one of the most famous cities in the world.
What are you waiting for building this impressive one-meter-tall building and tell your friends “I'm sure you already knew that the tallest bell tower in Italy is not in Venice..”.
Every vote is appreciated.
