Welcome to the LEGO Post office! This project is full of stories and details that could make it an iconic standalone building as well as an addition to any modular LEGO city! The building contains about 3,000 pieces and is partially inspired by the architecture found in Washington, D.C. Other than that, it is completely my idea.
The Minifigures include a family to inhabit the row house (a mom, dad, boy, and grandma) as well as two postal workers and an oddly familiar dog who appears to have gotten into mischief involving the mailman...
I debated adding a mail truck in the build but decide not to for keeping the piece count down, plus keeping the mailman on foot reflected the time period and opened more opportunities in the storyline.
The building features three removable floors, including a basement for the row house. Any LEGO fan who looks closely will recognize a few iconic modulars from the past. Maybe the family has a thing for LEGO as well?
The rest of the row house features a kitchen, dining table, bathroom, bedroom, roof access, and a desk for writing letters. This also increases the story possibilities.
The actual post office features a tiled ground floor with a removable shelf of mailboxes for easy access, as well as a storing place for the dolley. I also added a broken window, columns and pipework to add more detail to the back.
The next floor is the package assembly area, where all the equipment can be found. It includes several boxes of different shapes, a stapler, stamp, desk, and a roll of tape. I also added a brick painting of a city under the moonlight to add more detail.
The top floor features a desk for the postal workers, as well as an old school printing press, which was really fun to make.
This floor also has access to the small garden on the roof, as well as a ladder to the sunroof on the top. To care for the plants, you can fill up the watering can behind the basement. Watch out for the giant mud puddle, though...
I hope this is well received by the LEGO group, as well as the fans. Aside from the detail, compatibility, and storyline, I feel like this would make a great LEGO set because it was extremely fun to build, and I want other builders to enjoy it as well.
This is also my first submission, so feedback is very helpful. Tell me what like and what to change. Thanks!
