It's a beautiful day to go to the Neighborhood Post Office.
Want to send a letter to a long distance friend? Just pop on down to your local post office! The friendly staff is waiting to help you mail a letter or package to anywhere in the world.
What is it?
Every Lego town needs a post office. A friendly neighborhood post office where you can mail a letter, meet up with long lost friends, or get some help writing a letter.
First Floor: Customers are greeted by the friendly staff and are quickly helped with their mail. The front desk clerk will happily accept your mail or you can simply drop off mail at one of the self-service mail drop off boxes near the stairs. The backroom is a staging area for outbound mail for the mail delivery carrier to take on her routes.
Second Floor: The second floor has the post master's office and mail sorting room. It's a little messy in the mail sorting room as the staff is preparing several shipments of mail. The post masters office is fully furnished with a large book case, a side table which has a typewriter, and a large executive desk for him to work at.
Third Floor: The top most floor of the post office holds a small cozy space for another staff member to live out of. She is currently away meeting a customer who has a special request to draft a letter. She normally takes her sky blue parasol and briefcase with her, but it seems like she has forgotten them behind!
Front: The front of the post office has a spacious sidewalk area with some wild foliage growing under the windows and a vine creeping up from the side. There is also a mailbox to allow you to drop off your mail conveniently. A dog inspects a fire hydrant.
Back: The back of the post office has a lot more vines growing on the side of the building, looks like they will have to call a gardener soon. There is also a water drain pipe (that is fully modular with the floors) that runs from the attic floor all the way to the first floor, looks like it rained recently.
Why I designed it?
Ever since I started collecting the modular buildings sets, I have wanted a post office. I wanted me town to feel cozy and what better way to have that with a neighborhood post office? I also love seeing old buildings being encroached by nature, hence the many use of plant and vine elements on the front and back. Since the plant w/ plate 1x1 is one of my all time favorite elements, I had to find a way to incorporate it as much as possible into this design.
Why do I think it would make a great Lego set?
I think a post office modular building would make a great Lego set! I believe it would enhance any Lego city by adding more character to it. This particular design has a few stories to tell not just for itself but also for its workers. It has great playability with the 3 floors that contain various aspects to running an old timey post office. This build is very much inspired by Victorian era architecture.
