It’s been a while since I last shared a project on IDEAS. When I came back, I was pleasantly surprised to see that my “Big Boy” project had garnered over 5,000 supporters, which really motivated me. So, this time I’m excited to share a new creation—the Scania truck.
This is one of my favorite classic truck models. My father is a truck driver, and Scania is the brand he’s always dreamed of driving, so this project was inspired by him.
The model consists of 725 pieces, with a length of 21 cm, roughly in a 1:24 scale. I used many intricate building techniques to replicate the truck’s front design, especially the iconic Scania grille and air deflector. In terms of functionality, it can’t be converted to an electric version (unless parts of the interior and exterior are sacrificed), but I personally prefer it as a purely static model. However, the front wheels are still capable of a slight left-to-right turn.
This project is one of the pieces I’ve put the most effort into, and its design process was just as long as that of “Big Boy.”
As for the downsides, while I love the scale, it’s been difficult to find official LEGO tires that match this size. So, I ended up using the closest tires available, but they turned out to be too off-road oriented and a bit too wide. This was one of the things I hesitated about when considering whether to share it.
Nevertheless, since my last product received positive feedback, I thought I’d go ahead and share this one too. I hope you enjoy it, and if you have time, be sure to check out my previous “Big Boy” train model!
