Puddle Jumper Update
A major part of Stargate Atlantis was the Stargate-compatible ships known as "Puddle Jumpers" (the alternate term "GateShip" never caught on). These small craft were versatile transports with retractable engine pods, port and starboard missile launchers, and a cloaking device. By no means an offensive craft, these ships were invaluable as cargo transports and reconnaisance units. Especially invaluable as many Pegasus Stargates were placed in high orbit, making traditional walking transitions.... problematic. The ship is able to hover similar to a Star Wars repulsorlift and only deploys the powerful engine pods when safely through the gate. The crew is insulated from the high G forces by inertial dampers, allowing the craft to undergo accelerations that would otherwise be extremely uncomfortable for those inside.
This model is capable of fitting through my stargate and possesses a full interior. While the sets used on the show could "cheat" by having sets larger than the actual vehicle it was supposed to represet, this craft is practical. The cockpit has seating for four and more can sit in the rear, with a pressure sealed door allowing the rear section to act as an airlock for space operations. The rear section has a hinged door doubling as an access ramp. Inside the cockpit, a central dialing console allows the crew to remotely activate the Stargate.
I'm still polishing the interior details, but the exterior is pretty much finished. Unfortunately, I was unable to make the engines and launchers actually retractable (just can't find the space), but they can be easily popped off and swapped out with hull panels.
More pictures will follow as details are refined.
