Mister Rogers' Neighborhood

"Hello neighbor!"

Mister Roger's Neighborhood was a classic educational series that ran from 1968 to 2001.

Hosted by Fred Rogers, the series was aimed toward preschool children and their families. Mister Rogers would talk about various topics toward child development and each episode also featured a visit to the iconic Neighborhood of Make-Believe, a fictional kingdom inhabited by hand puppets and people, which Rogers used as an approachable way to teach young children important life lessons.

This LEGO design features Mr. Roger's home on one side while the other side features the Neighborhood of Make-Believe. Made with 2380 LEGO pieces, this build lovingly recreates the iconic sets & models from this classic TV series in LEGO form.

Mister Roger's home features;

  • Mister Roger's Foyer, Living Room, Kitchen, Closet - The closet holds several sweaters and his jacket!
  • Trolley - The electric red trolley that travels from Mister Roger's Home to the Neighborhood of Make-Believe. You can slide Trolley along a hidden sliding rail using a switch behind "Picture Picture". You can also take it and move it to the other side of the set as it travels to the Neighborhood of Make-Believe!
  • Picture Picture - 4x4 tile that can be replaced to show different lessons on Picture Picture, a frame that functioned like a TV set. This could be art, a lesson for children or the message "Hi!". There is also a slot on the slid of this wall to insert a 1x2 video tape tile to simulate 'activating' Picture Picture. The best part is the tape will automatically return to the cabinet below after being slid in!
  • Fish-tank & Food
  • Fridge
  • Typewriter
  • Microscale models of the different locations from the Neighborhood of Make-Believe - Mister Rogers kept miniatures of the locations on the shelf in his kitchen. I build 7 microscale models of each location.

The Neighborhood of Make-Believe featured their own fictionalized versions of landmarks which I have built mini builds here, those builds are recreations of the colorful models Mister Rogers used to keep in his kitchen on the show!

Except here, they also function as locations in the LEGO set in the Neighborhood of Make-Believe! Keep them on your shelf like Mister Rogers did or use them to travel to visit the residents of Neighborhood of Make-Believe!

Any of these classic locations can be featured in the back of the set on the grass and multi-colored path, with enough room to fit a few different combinations of a few of the locations below.

The Neighborhood of Make Believe features;

  • "Eiffel Tower"
  • King Friday's Castle - With working Trolley Tracks!
  • Rocking Chair Factory
  • Great Oak Tree - Feature's X the Owl and Henrietta's (the cats) homes
  • Museum-Go-Round - Which has a carousel that can actually spin!
  • Platypus Mound - Featuring the home of the Platypus Family
  • Grandfather Clock - Home of Daniel Striped Tiger
