Hi all
Today I present the LEGO Armillary sphere.
Discover the beauty of astronomy and scientific engineering with this intricate model of celestial features.
Armillary spheres are models of the earth surrounded with rings that represent celestial bodies, longitudes and latitudes, and other astronomical features. Earlier models were actually used for measurements and calculations. Nowadays they are typically only used for educational or aesthetic purposes.
I have loved astronomy since i was a kid, and I have always loved the look of armillary spheres. To my surprise, not a lot of people on the internet have attempted to build one from lego. That is why I knew I had to design a proper armillary sphere with LEGO and share it with you all.
The armillary sphere makes for a unique build to display in any home, office or educational space. Whether you are an astronomy enthusiast, a history lover, or you just love building with LEGO, the armillary sphere will offer a captivating piece of decoration with a unique building experience.
Working with flexible hoses to create the inner rings digitally was quite a challenge, but it worked out in the end. The central part can actually rotate (as seen in the second picture), so the armillary sphere has some functionality besides pure aesthetic.
I hope you enjoyed this build of mine. Vote now and help bring this magnificent piece of astronomical history to life!
