“How many years has it taken people to realize that we are all brothers and sisters and human beings in the human race?”
(A brave Drag Queen)

1) WHAT IS IT?

This is a LEGO brick representation of the Stonewall National Monument as it appears today, one year before its 10th anniversary, which will be celebrated in 2026.
Stonewall National Monument is a U.S.A. monument in New York City. The area officially includes the Stonewall Inn, Christopher Park, and nearby streets including Christopher Street (places that commemorate the historical rilevance of equality and inclusivity for LGBTQIA+ people). They were designated as a National Monument in 2016.

Description of the work
This work is a tribute to those places and values, and with its approximately 3,750 pieces, it represents:
  • the Stonewall Inn, the building that still today houses a bar bearing the name of the original;
  • Christopher Street, a vibrant street filled with significance;
  • Christopher Park, the park that now provides a space of relaxation for visitors, and the Gay Liberation sculpture by artist George Segal;
  • the building at 59 Christopher Street, which once housed an association that firmly believed in the value of equality for homosexual people. In my work, the building now includes a bar, the apartment of a transgender woman who is passionate about LEGO, and the office of an LGBTQIA+ helpline.
People you’ll find
The set includes 13 minifigures, which I would like to represent various LGBTQIA+ people:
  • L: A couple of women walking with their baby.
  • G: A couple of men during a marriage proposal (Todd & Ryan, from my previous work Handcrafted Houseboat, available on this website if you’d like to read their love story!).
  • B: An African American counselor working for an LGBTQIA+ helpline.
  • T: A transgender woman, an AFOL (Adult Fan of LEGO) in her apartment filled with LEGO bricks!
  • Q: A queer man on a date with a basketball player.
  • I : An African American man who is visiting the Stonewall National Monument with his partner (H) and their child.
  • A: A bartender at work.
  • +: A non-binary Drag Queen, performing on stage!

2) WHY DID YOU BUILD IT?

As an amateur artist, I use LEGO bricks to create mostly minifigure-scale artworks, set in an imaginary world of peace, love, respect, and LGBTQIA+ representation (click on the name “Feacebricks” in this page to see my bio and links). The Stonewall National Monument in bricks is the definitive celebration of diversity and equality, a vibrant symbol of inclusivity and acceptance, set in the present day.

3) WHY DO YOU BELIEVE THIS WOULD MAKE A GREAT LEGO SET?

An iconic place
Representing this iconic place with a LEGO set is a opportunity to combine creativity, play, and education, while also telling the everyday lifes of LGBTQIA+ people, and sharing stories that inspires people around the world.
The model includes faithful details, such as the facade of the Stonewall Inn with its iconic windows (and two customisable flags), Christopher Street with its rainbow-colored pedestrian crosswalks and its brown street sign, Christopher Park with its symbolic sculptures and the fence with signs displaying commemorative dates, offering builders a journey through history and a celebration of diversity.

Values for a better world
A LEGO set dedicated to the Stonewall National Monument would promote universal values such as inclusivity, respect, and love for diversity, aligning with LEGO's mission to build a better world. It would be a valuable addition to the LEGO Ideas range, attracting not only bricks enthusiasts but also those who wish to express human values through art with a cheerful and colourful design.
I imagine this set displayed in homes and offices, sparking meaningful conversations and spreading a colourful yet profound message about acceptance and equality. The project combines, in a typical New York atmosphere, a joyful design with an inspiring purpose, making it in my opinion a unique and valuable addition to the LEGO Ideas collection.

Thank you for supporting this project.

Love, Feacebricks.
