If you're reading this, I'm guessing there's a good change you've at least heard of Dragon Ball. No matter if you grew up with the anime, enjoyed the manga, played any of the many games, or got into contact with it through social media with its many parodies, powerscaling discussions and memes, it can't be denied that Dragon Ball has built an empire with its engaging story, breathtaking battles and memorable techniques.
I'm a fan of the show myself and decided to recreate some of the most iconic characters in the BrickHeadz format. The collection of martial artists known as the Z Fighters.
The members of this group change over the course of the story, and the list is quite long towards the end, so I decided to go with the 8 that feel the most important and popular to me. Included are:
Son Goku
Vegeta
Son Gohan
Piccolo
Krillin
Yamcha
Tenshinhan
and Chiaotzu
Here is a little 360° view of the individual BrickHeadz in the order of Goku, Piccolo, Krillin, Tien, Gohan, Yamcha, Chiaotzu and Vegeta
Also included is a little display for the titular magical orbs, the Dragon Balls.
The wish granting spheres, the Dragon Balls
Across 974 pieces, 14 of which have prints, relive the story of Goku and the others. While many other characters like Master Roshi, Future and present Trunks, Goten, Buu, Android #17 and #18, Hercule as well as Chi-Chi, Bulma, Videl, Yajirobe and many others would fit this list very nicely, their spotlight will come some other time. I also chose to go with all of their base forms, as they are the designs we most commonly see across the anime and manga.
This project initially started to test out some different building techniques and styles, but it became a full-on idea. We're long overdue for a Dragon Ball Lego set, and with this community and the many other great MOCs and ideas out there on this platform, I think we can finally do it.
Rest in Peace, Akira Toriyama
