The Story
The Big Bad Wolf was just sitting down to a fried egg breakfast when he heard Little Red Riding Hood approach Granny's cottage. He quickly jumped into bed, not realising his feet are sticking out from under the cover. Little Red Riding Hood boldly confronts the imposter.
The Characters
I wanted to create characters that were larger than minifig scale but still buildable in a feasible sized set. The Big Bad Wolf has posable jaw, ears and toes. I gave him over-sized eyes to emphasise to the famous quote "Granny, what big eyes you have". Little Red Riding Hood has posable arms.
The scene
I created a cut away with 2 partially built walls to clearly exhibit the details in the build. The armchair and Little Red Riding Hood are not fixed down so can be moved about. The fireplace is separate from the wall so can be situated wherever the builder desires.
40 x 22 studs at widest points. Approx. 12 bricks high.
The Details
The Big Bad Wolf is hiding under a colourful crochet blanket. Above the lit fire there is reference to The Three Little Pigs with ornaments depicting a house made of straw, one of sticks and another of brick. There is an impression of the Big Bad Wolf and the 3 pigs of course! Also on the mantlepiece you will see an art deco clock and an oil lamp. On the clothed table are the breakfast, a letter and a vase of flowers. Granny's comfy armchair sits beside the fire with a cushion and antimacassars to give a traditional cottage feel. White and grey plates were used to produce a slab effect floor. A rag rug finishes off the room bringing all the colours together.
The Build
I had this idea in my head for a long time before putting any bricks together. It is created out of real life bricks and I loved the challenge of working with what pieces I had to hand to create what was in my head. There are also some hidden pink bricks so I also enjoyed plenty of cake!
The Vision
If this piece is chosen to become an official set I would love the floors to be panelled with wooden board pieces and a nice picture hung over the bed. Please help this fairytale become a reality. I loved making it and I'm sure plenty of people would enjoy the build and be proud to display it.
