Maid of The Mist

If you visit Niagara Falls in North America one of the must-do excursions is to take a trip on the Maid of the Mist. This boat trip takes you out on the river and close to the bottom of the falls. The sight of mist rising and the roaring sound of the falls are unforgettable.

This model shows passengers boarding at the boat’s dock, though one passenger seems to have lost his way and is on the off ramp. The dock house floats on the water so that it can operate regardless of the river level and during any season. The dock house is primarily a waiting area for people ready to board and for staff to check tickets and give safety advice. Other smaller ships can dock at the side of the dock house, e.g., river police or emergency boats.

The ship has two boarding gates on each side which can align with boarding and disembarking gates on the dock house. Also shown is the boats captain in the cabin, getting ready for another trip. The ship has three inflatable life rafts on each side.

All the passengers are wearing the blue waterproof clothes that are provided for this excursion, together with a floatation device as an emergency provision. The waterproofs are good for your body – but expect to get very wet feet as the mist and spray is all around you and gets in your socks and shoes!

This model can be a memory of a holiday trip or play can be extended if you build a waterfall or the tower that you go down to take a trip on the Maid of the Mist from the USA side of the falls.

Modular Design - For improved play the top deck of the Maid of the Mist boat and the roof of the dock house are removable.

Dimensions - the model is on an area of 48 x 64 spots. There are 27 minifigs shown though this could be any number as most of the minifigs are the same. The model uses 1173 bricks.
