The Modular Coffee Shop and Bookstore is actually two separate buildings. They can be separated and moved around as individual units. Each level can be removed, and there are stairs connecting each floor. There is no roof access, but the Bookstore has a skylight on the roof, letting in some extra light to the upper floor.

The Coffee Shop consists of three floors plus the roof. On the first floor, costumers may purchase coffee, hot chocolate, tea, or even pie! There are two tables on this floor, one of which is a two-person booth. Except for the cashier area, the entire first floor is tiled. There is a front door for regular entry, and a back door leading to an area with garbage and recycling cans for the disposal of any waste created in the shop. At the back of the first floor is the staircase to the second floor.

The second floor is mostly wide open space, with the indoor area containing a toilet room, a table, a few plants, and the stair case which leads to the third floor. This floor also has a balcony, allowing customers to drink their coffee in the open air, and enjoy the sights and sounds of the city.

On the third floor, there is a couch with a coffee table, a table with a clock, and a hanging piece of modern art. This floor is less open than the second floor, and has two windows. The roof is very simple and flat.

Next to the coffee shop, people can buy a book or two to read with their morning coffee. This building has only two floors, plus the roof with a skylight. The first floor has a cash register, a bookshelf, and a rotating book shelf in the bay window. The books on the shelves are all brick built, and there are a total of 12 book mold pieces in the set. There is a spiral staircase leading up the second floor. There are two rotating bookshelves and two long bookshelves. There is also a newspaper shelf on this floor.

Though none are pictured here, I imagine that there will be two store clerks (one for each store), and somewhere between two and four other mini figures, who will be the regular customers.

As always, this set is able to connect to all other Modular Building sets. Like the Pet Shop, this Modular Building set is in two separate parts, but they are both able to connect in any order with the other buildings of this series.
