Presenting one of the most iconic musicians of all time, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. He sits at the harpsichord, the prominent keyboard instrument of the Baroque era, and precursor to the modern piano. He is famous not only for his many enduring compositions, but also for being an absolute rockstar of his time, impressing royal and common audiences alike with his virtuoso skills at the keyboard, even as a child prodigy.

This was a lot of fun to build and presented many challenges. A few of my favorite details in the model - the way the tan bricks appear like aged ivory keys, Mozart's powdered wig and red coattails, as well as the beaded leg motif that ties together the harpsichord and the bench. I also think the 'carpet' of brown grill pieces captures the essence of strings, while the dark red and black contrast nicely on the body of the harpsichord (and with Mozart's white cuffs and socks).

This was my first attempt at modeling a human out of LEGO and was inspired by some of the clever ways people have tackled this problem on Ideas. Most of the pieces that form his red suit came from the Harley gas tank, so that's an improved reincarnation! The set began as just the harpsichord but I think adding the maestro made it much more compelling, and I hope you do too.
