Hockey Rink

Game on! Head down to the LEGO IDEAS hockey rink, hit the ice, and get ready to give it 110%!

Play as a top-line superstar and face-off against your toughest rival. Flex those mini sticks, get pucks to the front of the net, and lead your team to victory.

Feeling tired? Get to the bench, swing open the door, and end that shift to keep fresh legs on the ice. If the game gets out of hand, enforce the rules and toss any misbehaving minifigs into the penalty boxes for a timeout.

Prefer a spreadsheet to an ice sheet? Manage stats from the scorekeeper’s box and adjust the goals, time remaining, and period on the scoreboard. Look under the stands to find the score lights and number blocks in the sliding storage containers.

And of course, a good game always starts with good maintenance. Remove the nets, lower the Zamboni brush, and lay down some fresh ice to live out the dream of anyone who has ever witnessed a hockey intermission.

One of my favourite traditions in winter is to create a seasonal LEGO scene. As a long-time hockey fan from the Canadian prairies, I’ve always wanted the scene to include a hockey rink that reminded me of the local rink I played in growing up, so I chose this as my first LEGO IDEAS submission.

-      Ice surface made of clear tiles that lie on top of blue and red ice markings

-      Boards with five latching doors, one at each team bench, one at each penalty box, and one for the Zamboni entrance

-      Zamboni with brush that moves up and down

-      Removable nets with LEGO string to create netting

-      Minifigures include four players, two goalies, and one Zamboni driver

-      Two stands, each with a storage box underneath to keep extra scoreboard lights, scoreboard numbers, pucks, and netting

-      Scoreboard with removable clock to update time, and goal and period indicators that can be changed
