Welcome to Liège-Guillemins railway station!
Bienvenue à la gare de Liège-Guillemins!
Liège-Guillemins railway stationis the main station in Liège, Belgium. It has become a popular tourist attraction itself because of its stunning architecture designed by Santiago Calatrava.
When I visited Liège this station extremely impressed me right at my arrival. Its open structure makes it very pleasant to spend time there and I think the roof looks super cool! And since I really enjoy trains and train stations I just had to create a Lego model of it.
The model shows the station as it looks like since the opening in 2009 with its 9 tracks and the large arch. It consists of about 1100 parts.
I decided to make a microscale version of the train station in order to show the whole roof and its iconic shape without requiring too many parts and too much space. The model contains four trains, two high-speed and two regional trains. In addition you can find little details like elevators, escalators and information boards.
This set could be an example of the great diversity of architectural highlights in the world because it shows that impressive landmarks can be found in unexpected places. It should encourage people to travel and make their own discoveries off the beaten track.
