Immerse yourself in the world of Jumanji with this tribute, including play and display pieces inspired by the iconic 1995 movie. The project highlights a playable board game, the enchanted Parrish Mansion, dangerous animals, and many details to recreate the stampede, storm, and other exciting adventures and mysterious riddles.
Story
Jumanji is an American fantasy adventure film directed by Joe Johnston. It's based on the 1981 children's picture book by Chris Van Allsburg. The story follows young Alan Parrish, who is sucked into the Jumanji board game after attempting to play it. Decades later, two children Judy and Peter Shepherd discover the game and face challenges to return everything to normal.
Why did I build it?
Jumanji is a timeless family film with an engaging story and interesting characters. I’ve always enjoyed the unexpected challenges and adventures, combined with humor and special effects.
Key features
- Recreate the original foldable board game and play with friends using two dice and the four game pieces (elephant, monkey, rhinoceros, crocodile). The board game includes two compartments to store the dice, while the game pieces, small animals and minifigures can be stored inside the game itself.
- Display a micro-scale version of the Parrish Mansion, also known as the Old Parrish Place, packed with detailed scenes and surrounded by animals. The earthquake play-feature can break it open!
- Optional: Finished playing? Turn the board game into a display model by attaching the three brick-built animals. Recreate scenes like the stampede where they come to life and break through the Mansion, or where the animals are sucked back into the game. All animals can be detached and played with separately.
Memorable scenes to recreate
- Recreate the moment when young Alan Parrish discovered the Jumanji game at a construction site in 1969, by splitting the minifig stand.
- The flooded Parrish Mansion includes: Ground floor: attacking plants and a library with a rhino. First floor: a kitchen with a monkey, a bathroom where Alan shaves after years in the jungle, and a bedroom with a lion. Attic: Judy and Peter play the game, surrounded by spiders and a mosquito.
- The pelican steals the board game, but Alan gives a fish to get it back.
- A hijacked police motorcycle by monkeys.
Minifigures
- Alan Parrish (regular & jungle version), Sarah Whittle, Judy & Peter Shepherd (with monkey hairpiece), hunter Van Pelt, and police officer Carl Bentley.
- Various microfigures included for the mansion, such as Van Pelt on the stairs.
Animals
- Big brick-built rhino, elephant and pelican.
- Mini brick-built lion and rhino in the Mansion.
- Monkeys, bats, spiders, mosquitoes, a snake, a pelican, and a swimming crocodile at the Mansion.
