Welcome to my latest project: "Antique Diving Helmet"
I was inspired by the antique scuba helmet that divers used to wear since the 19th century.
The main set is conformed by the upper part of the helmet, known colloquially as the hat or bonnet, which is secured to the diver or diving suit by a lower part, known as neck dam, breastplate or corselet.
As a brief background, the first succesful diving helmets were produced during the 19th century. Their main purpose was to allow the user to dive with aid of breathing gas. Due to the helmet´s structure, it let to see clearly underwater in order to do heavy and dangerous work.
Over time, diving helmets were perfected until they were replaced by a more modern scuba diving equipment. Nowadays, antique diving helmets are considered as pieces of collection.
