Bonsai Weeping Willow

Weeping Willow Bonsai - Salix babylonica

This is a very graceful and very large tree.  It is the weeping foliage and the massive spectacular display this creates, that makes it such an iconic tree.  You will often find these old looking thick based trees growing near the side of a lake or a pond, this is because they require a lot of water and then flourish when there is an ample supply.

It is an amazing sight when you see a mature specimen in full bloom.  The pendulous branches create a weeping effect, which gives it its common name.

It was hard to try and emulate in Lego, but I wanted to persevere and honour its natural beauty in Lego form.
