The Olympic rings have been a symbol of professionalism, athleticism, and greatness for over a century. This Ideas project celebrates those rings and the sports that give the rings meaning.
The Celebration of the Olympic Rings set features a display stand displaying the Olympic rings, two small Olympic flame builds, and five vignettes of the only sports to be featured in every modern day Olympic game. The vignettes attach via Lego axle so they can be display in various set ups to allow you to customize the display piece to your liking. The five sports include, gymnastics, fencing, cycling, athletics, and swimming.

- Gymnastics: One of the only five events to be featured in every modern Olympics. There are three separate disciplines of gymnastics; artistic, rhythmic, and trampoline. At one point, club swinging and rope climbing were gymnastic events. In 2024 there will be a total of 18 gymnastic medal events at the Paris games.
- Fencing: One of the only five events to be featured in every modern Olympics. There are three main types of fencing disciplines; Foil, Épée, and Sabre . This year marks the 100th anniversary of women’s foil which made its debut at the 1924 Paris Olympics. The 2024 Paris Olympics will feature 12 fencing medal events.
- Cycling: One of the only five events to be featured in every modern Olympics. There are currently 4 different types of cycling disciplines at the Olympics including; track cycling (like the vignette), road cycling, mountain-biking, and BMX. The 2024 Paris games will feature 22 cycling medal events.
- Athletics: One of the only five events to be featured in every modern Olympics. Athletics includes track and field events. One of the original events was the Olympic Marathon commemorating the run of the soldier Pheidippides from the battlefield to the town of Marathon. There will be 48 athletic medal events at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
- Swimming: One of the only five events to be featured in every modern Olympics. The first Olympic Swimming event in 1896 featured swimmers dropped into the Mediterranean trying to swim ashore. In 2024, there will be a total of 35 swimming medal events featured at the Paris Olympics.
