Behold the Kinetic Sphere! This Technic sculpture is sure to catch the attention of young and old alike, whether at school, home, or work. The Sphere consists of 30 "struts" connecting 20 vertices in a dodecahedral pattern, creating a geometric shape that is both sturdy and unlike anything you'd see in a typical Lego build. The sphere measures roughly 9 inches in diameter closed, and roughly 14 inches when fully expanded. Not counting the stand, the Kinetic Sphere as shown uses 1,200 pieces. Using new Technic pieces released in 2016 can reduce the part count to 900, and this can be further reduced by simplifying the connecting struts.
