Ff-X7 Core Fighter

This MOC is a tribute to one of the most iconics science-fiction vehicles ever designed on Earth, the FF-X7 Core Fighter, from the 1979 anime Mobile Suit Gundam.
The FF-X7 Core Fighter was a starfighter designed to replace the central core of the Mobile Suit prototypes of the "V-Project", including the famous Gundam.

To fit inside Gundam's body, the Core Fighter had to transform into the core module, it was amazing to watch thath scene on the TV!!!

I designed the Core Fighter in 2018 to practice on Digital Designer, but I could build it just a few month ago.

The model can change from starfighter to core performing the same transformation of the original anime, it has retractable landing gears and retractable missile launchers too.

Since the main landing gears was very tricky to extract, I added two levers to help. Those levers are activated rotating the large exhaust nozzles.

In this new pictures you can see an improved version of the first one I submitted, with a complete flat cover, improved landing gear system and improved tail lock system, now it is a real beauty to see and you can lift the model by the cockpit wthout the risk of a tail unlock.
The model is 40cm long, 27cm wide and 14cm high, the original design was 1087 bricks, but I changed something by building it and something more making this first upgrade, so the bricks should be like 60 or 70 more now...

Here are some comparason pictures between first and second version:

I'm still waiting for the parts to improve the nose shape and to change some medium stone grey parts of the main gear cover with some red ones, so in the future I'll post a second upgrade of the model.

I'm really satisfied with the front gear solution, it's very functional and good looking at the same time!

Building this moc is a royal fun because there are many technics involved and is not exactly easy to assemble, so can give you a real satifaction building it, furthermore to play with its functions is very funny!

First I did not use flat tiles to cover it because the most of its surfaces was made just by two layers of corner plates, but there are some new parts now available thath allow to make a complete flat cover.

I still had to use some earth blue, medium stone grey and dark stone grey colored parts because I could not find the bright blue ones.

I hope You enjoy this moc I submitted, when I designed it back in 2018, I didn't even know about Lego Ideas, but this Core Fighter looks nice enough to try, specially this improved version!

Plase feel free to comment, have a nice day!!!
