"After a hot day, the evening is mild – let’s enjoy some tapas in the best restaurant in town!”

Overview:
Welcome to Spain and the wonderful city of Barcelona! This building – Casa Batlló - was designed by the famous architect Antoni Gaudi in the beginning of the 20th century. It is considered one of his masterpieces and is one of the most remarkable examples of the international style called Art Nouveau. It was often inspired by natural forms such as plants and flowers.

Tapas are small dishes or snacks, so typical for the traditional food in Spain.

My Model:
To create a Lego building in the Art Nouveau style has been a thrilling challenge! The square shapes of the Lego brick and the organic shapes of Gaudis architecture are on the opposite poles. But with the possibilities given by all the modern bricks and pieces we are finally here.

The exterior of my build is rather true to the original building by Antoni Gaudi. The interior is however a free interpretation. On ground floor and the first floor is a tapas restaurant. Here you will also find a painting of the famous Spanish artist Joan Miro!
On the second floor you will find the architects studio, and his penthouse apartment on the third floor.

Casa Batlló is built according to the principles of LEGO Modular Buildings. It is possible to detach all the upper floors.
