Supersonic Landspeed Record attempt Car

The Bloodhound SSC will attempt to break the World landspeed record in 2015 and 2016. If the car performs as designed the current record of 763 mph (Mach 1.016) held by ThrustSSC will be smashed. The design speed of the Bloodhound SSC is 1000 mph (Mach 1.4)

The car is powered by an EJ200 Eurojet fighter aircraft engine and has a Nammo rocket engine. The car also has a Jaguar F Type petrol engine which is used to drive the pump for the rocket fuel.

Bloodhound SSC will be driven by Wing Commander Andy Green who is also drove ThrustSSC and is the current holder of the World Land speed record, and the first person to break the sound barrier on land.

The model measures 340 x 90 x 115 mm and has a 290 parts, it features the graphic tail fin created using Lego rather than being printed or a sticker. The EJ200 engine is represented by two of the Lego airliner engine parts in tandem. This puts the engine's fan in the right poition when viewed down the engine intake. The rear wheels are the parabolic disc parts which have a cross connection, on its own this will not support the car, however, I found that adding a 2x2 cylindrical brick makes this a very stong wheel which will not work free from the axle in normal play (LDD is great but you sometimes need to build up parts to make sure they will work).

If the car sets a new world record this could prove to be a very popular set.

Thank you for looking at my project.
