English Afternoon Tea

Afternoon Tea is a famous English tradition dating back to the early 1800s when the upper class members of English society would get hungry between lunch and dinner.
It was a very welcome inclusion into British society at the time and has certainly stood the test of time with many cafes and restaurants throughout the UK and even across the whole world now offering afternoon tea to their guests.

In modern times Afternoon Tea has taken a wide variety of forms with modernised and geographical twists on the tradition being seen globally. However, in my opinion, the traditional afternoon tea is unbeatable.
For that reason I have chosen to portray a traditional Afternoon Tea assortment. This, of course, consists of a pot of English Tea with decorative mugs, sugar cubes and milk, and the famous three tier food stand consisting of:

Bottom Layer - Triangular white bread sandwiches, one with salmon, one with cucumber and salad, one with cheese.
Middle layer - Scones with clotted Cream and Jam. The toppings on either scone can be seen as one Cream with Jam on top and the other Jam with Cream on top... depicting a typical English debate - Cream or Jam first?!
Top Layer - Four macaroons in traditional pastel colours.

The set consists of 1290 pieces.
