As the crew of the LL-928 Galaxy Explorer are about to head home after successfully discovering the ruins of the temple of Kini Nui, the pilot looses control of the vessel and the ship crashes near the temple. Discouraged but not without hope, the crew sets up an emergency temporary encampment in order to repair their ship and send word to homebase.
About the Model
I originally built this model as an entry in a local convention's building contest, but I think would make a wonderful display piece for fans of Classic Space, Bionicle, and "Retro" LEGO.
The model was built in three main parts:
- The base
- The mask
- The mountain/balcony
Each contained its own challenges: with the mask, getting the many angles to line up just right; for the mountain, it was building around the mask without noticable gaps; and for the base, building and sculpting a realistic path and greenery.

- 32 studs wide
- 32 studs long
- Abt. 30 studs tall
- Abt. 2000 pieces(maybe more, I honestly have no idea 😅)
