The Alchemist's Lab

I have a fascination for alchemy, pseudoscience though it is. Thus my alchemist's lab build, split into four sections, each representing a stage of the alchemical magnum opus, and crammed with as much alchemic iconography as I could fit.

For those unfamiliar with alchemic symbolism, here's a brief rundown of each room:
  • Nigredo (black): Decay. Various ingredients are broken down in acid or other solvents into a homogenous base.
  • Albedo (white): Purification. Said base is then distilled and filtered to extract the desired elements in pure form.
  • Citrinitas (yellow): Awakening: The resulting chemicals are combined to create ever more complicated ones.
  • Rubedo (red): Ultimation. The process isn't complete until the end products have served their purpose, the philosopher's stone used to make the gold, the elixir of life drunk. This is also where I've chosen to represent the greater connection between micro-cosmos and macro-cosmos, the elements below and the planets above, which alchemists believed reflect one another.

Because I believe a good set is one you can play with after building, I've hinged the lab so it can open up and built on an open diagonal so you can really get your hands in amongst the various fittings. 976 parts total.

I think this would make a good set because people love mystical, mythological stuff. This build appeals to that love while still being secular, and therefore permissible under LEGO Idea's standards of submission.
