Calling all Studio Ghibli fans! At long last, now is our chance to create an official LEGO kit featuring everyone's favorite cat ... er, bus ... the Catbus! Inspired by the brilliant filmmaker Hayao Miyazaki, this friendly 12-legged transport is ready to whisk you -- along with minifigures Satsuki and Mei -- into the make-believe world of "My Neighbor Totoro."
Catbus is one of the most popular characters is the Studio Ghibli universe. In the movie, he provides transportation for Totoro and Satsuki as they search for a lost Mei. He also gives the two sisters a ride to visit their sick mother.
As a toy, Catbus has been one of Studio Ghibli's best-selling characters. He's one of the most lovable, irresistible icons of Japanese anime history. LEGO has created kits for many of the world's most beloved story brands, and the creations of Miyazaki -- especially Catbus -- are a perfect fit for the building block toys.
Please help LEGO Catbus a reality by clicking the blue Support button to the right. You won't be obligated to buy anything. We just need 10,000 votes to get Catbus reviewed by the official LEGO team. Also, I'd love it if you would follow my by clicking my user name, "jeffswhite," in the white box to the right, then select "Follow." You can leave comments and ask questions, and I'll be sure to respond.
I hope Catbus will be just the first in a series of Studio Ghibli LEGO kits. Miyazaki and his team created so many colorful characters and creatures, flying machines, and buildings that would make amazing LEGO creations. I next plan to begin working on Howl's Moving Castle (with Sophie, Howl, and Markle mini-figures), the Spirited Away bathhouse (with Chihiro, Haku, and No Face mini-figures), a Castle in the Sky robot warrior, and a set of Totoros. If you follow me on LEGO Ideas, I'll keep you updated about my progress with those kits.
Thank you for your support!
