One of my mother's toys from when she was very young was a wooden pull along horse. The horse has a crankshaft attached to its wheels which made its head nod. I thought that it might be a fun challenge to build it so I did and this is the product.
How it looks:
The head was quite tricky to build, and it looks a little like a sea monster of some sort, but it was the best I could do. The person riding the horse is optional, but he looked funny, so I included him anyway.
The mechanism:
The moment of the head is driven by a crankshaft attached to the front wheels which you can see in the fifth image. In the fourth and fifth images you can see how it all works. The horse's head is coloured white, the wheel and leg are grey, and any pivot points are a light azure sort of colour.
