Red bellied piranhas, Serrasalmus natterei, is a species of piranha native to South America. I found out about this particular species while researching ichthyology, and decided to make it into a model/set.
So here I have made that set. The baseplate is based off of a shallow freshwater riverbed, with aquatic plants, an algae-covered log, and lots of rocks. The piranha itself is on a turntable, and its lower jaw and caudal (tail) fin are posable. I used a lot of small and sloped pieces to get both the shape and the color right.
I believe that this would make a great set because it is accurate, and everyone knows what piranhas are (and most people think that they are neat, too).
